We are a group of college educated women that believes strongly in the advancement of women through education, advocacy and research. We work to promote educational opportunities for women, to provide financial aid to college-bound high school seniors and to enjoy the company of like-minded women. We are a non-profit club
We raise funds for our scholarships in several ways, chiefly through a semi-annual “Used Book and Music Sale”, featuring more than 100,000 donated books and other items. The financial successes of our semi-annual book sales this past year provided the academic awards committee of CWC with an allocation of $41,500 for girls graduating from area high schools in June of 2023. Nineteen applicants from Montclair, Glen Ridge, Cedar Grove and Verona High Schools received these awards. We also hold other fund-raising activities each year to benefit the club.
Branch meetings are held approximately once a month from September until June, usually featuring an interesting speaker and refreshments. We have two special interest groups at the moment: a book group and a dining-out group, but we are open to other suggestions. Our members also help out with staffing our Sales, working on the fund raiser and any community project we take up for the year.
We welcome any women with similar interests. A degree from a post-secondary education institution ( a college degree, an associate degree (RN) from a regionally accredited college or university, etc.) is essential for membership. However we welcome help with our Book Sale from anyone interested in our goals.
Our Mission Statement: Advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research.
